I am the son of an Italian immigrant. My father, Giuseppe Carra, moved to Raritan, New Jersey in 1970 along with his mother, Rosina, and his four siblings: Luigi, Carmina, Macrina, and Antonio. His father, Nazzareno Carra, served as a councilman while still in Italy. He moved to Raritan ahead of his family in 1967 and worked for Raritan’s Department of Public Works. My father, despite not completing his education beyond the 8th grade, worked diligently as a mason to support his triplet children: my sisters Tiffany, Victoria, and myself.

My passion for public service was inspired by my mother’s side of the family. They have resided in Raritan, New Jersey for over a century. My great-grandparents lived in a home on Somerset Street, where they hosted family dinners for all the relatives in Raritan. In 1932, my great-grandparents, John and Rose Hudak, purchased a house on Elmer Street, where our family continues to live today. Great-grandpa John volunteered for both the Raritan Fire Company and the Raritan Rescue Squad. My grandparents, Anthony and Theresa Hudak, also served Raritan. Anthony was a member of the Borough Council in the 1970s, 1980s, and 2000s, and served as Mayor from October 2005 to November 2006. Theresa was a long-time member of the Raritan Board of Health. My mother, Denise, also served on the Borough Council from January 2003 to December 2017.

I graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School in 2014. In 2016, I earned my Associate of Arts degree from Raritan Valley Community College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I was recognized as one of two students in my entire degree program by the board of trustees for my academic excellence. In 2018, I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University - New Brunswick, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

In 2016, at the age of 20, I was chosen by the residents of Raritan to serve on the Raritan Borough Council. I had the privilege of being re-elected to this position twice more in 2019 and 2022, a role I fulfilled for seven years in total.  From 2020 to 2023, my fellow council members entrusted me with the responsibility of serving four consecutive terms as Council President. In 2023, I was deeply honored to be elected by my fellow residents as the 12th Mayor of Raritan Borough at age 27.
