RARITAN, NJ - The Raritan Borough Council reorganization meeting on Jan. 3 saw the oath of office administered to a borough council president Nicolas J. Carra, who has served on the council for two terms.
Carra won the position of Council President and thanked his colleagues for trusting him to continue his service as president for a fourth consecutive year. He said his goal this year is to help the governing body take action, which he said residents have been waiting for.
"I heard from residents while campaigning that they want to see the governing body take action, and my goal is that this year," he said. "The governing body is ready to put forth the work to achieve this, all while maintaining engagement and participation from the public." Carra said, on the operational side, the borough has streamlined procedures so their administrative staff can handle issues better and faster as they arise, and provide the governing body with more in-depth information on budgeting, planning and policies. "I'd like to thank the voters for placing their confidence in me as I continue this privilege of representing their viewpoints and interests," he said. "I'd also like to congratulate councilman Adam Armahizer on his election victory. I look forward to working with him this year and doing what we think is best for Raritan."
