RARITAN, NJ - In the form of a Recreation Master Plan, Raritan Borough wants to establish a long-term plan to revive recreation and recreational facilities in the borough, from playgrounds and fields to bathroom facilities and light repairs. Council president Nicolas Carra said he wants to have the finance committee work with the finance department to determine what the borough can afford over the next five years, which would involve picking what projects the borough wants to focus on most. However, if anything gets approved in committee, it would have to go to the full council for a vote. ”But, just to get the ball rolling," said Carra, they need a place to start.
Recreation director Andrew Sibilia already has some ideas, said Carra. "He did have some things he wanted to do for recreation, as far as bonding for capital project improvements," Carra said. "There's a long list of things he wants to look at." Borough engineer Stanley Schrek said a good place to start is to look at the town master plan, which has a recreation element. “Should probably be a place we should start to see what that recommends,” he said.
